2026 STAR Conference

The STAR Steering Committee is pleased to announce the 2026 STAR Conference, an event dedicated to advancing scientific research and collaboration across the Pacific region.
 
The theme for STAR 2026 is “The Role of the Pacific Island Nations in the Development of their Energy, Minerals, and Geo-resources Security Through Urban Sea Systems”.

 

It will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on 16-21 November 2026.

The target audience for STAR 2026 include researchers, scientists, academics and stakeholders interested in Pacific science and technologies. 

​
As with previous years, issues on any topic related to the overall conference theme or the Pacific region in general will also be welcome and will be included in the STAR 2026 program.

 

A Circum-Pacific Council - STAR sponsored workshop on “Urban Sea Systems and Deep-Sea Minerals” for 16-17 November 2026 has been confirmed.


A workshop on the “Blue Concrete Initiative” has also been proposed for 18 November 2026

Conference Format:

STAR 2026 will be a hybrid event, oral presentation sessions will be available during STAR 2026. Poster presentations may also be available.

Presentations:

Sessions will be scheduled during the hours 09:00  – 17:00.  PowerPoint presentations must be no longer than 15 mins plus 5 mins for discussion.

Working Groups:

Working groups may also be scheduled during STAR 2026 on topics relevant to supporting Pacific Island countries with their sustainable development.  Any member, or group of members of STAR should provide details.

Field Trip:

Details will be provided in due course.

Student and Early Career Prize:

The STAR Steering Committee will award a prize for the best presentation during the STAR 2026 given by a student or early career scientist.

Evening Functions:

Evening functions during STAR 2026 will be advised during the programmed sessions.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Delegates intending to participate in STAR 2026 will be invited in due course to submit titles of papers and abstracts under the focus areas.
 
Abstracts should be submitted via email in the format HERE.

Early submission is strongly encouraged; however, the submission deadline will be November 1, 2026.
 
REGISTRATION SUBMISSION
Registrations can be submitted HERE.

PRESENTATIONS
